In any sport, winning the same title more than once is hard. From one year to the next, waiting 365 days is both mentally and physically challenging. Savannah Christian Preparatory School junior Jamari McIvory and Savannah Arts Academy senior Lyric Olson met the challenge and repeated in different classifications than the previous year.

Five other Savannah area track and field athletes stood on the top of the podium for the first time. They were SCPS Jadyn Singleton, Sol C. Johnson, Samari Dowdy, Savannah Arts Academy Ava Coffey, Woodville-Tompkins Nathan Anderson, and two Bethesda Academy Blazers, Triston Randal and Raleigh Wesley.

Jamari McIvory, a junior at Savannah Christian, won two Class 3A state titles. He repeated in the 400 meters with a time of 48.10. He also won the 200 meters with a personal best time of 21.65.

Savannah Arts senior Lyric Olson repeated as the 800-meter champion (she won last year in Class 3A) at 2:09.60.

Savannah Christian Prep Jadyn Singleton won a gold medal in the GHSA Class 3A girl's Long Jump.

Samari Dowdy, a senior at Sol C. Johnson, finished as a gold medal winner with a time of 10.72 in the GHSA Class 3A 100-meter race.

Savannah Arts Academy senior Ava Coffey won the gold medal in the 3200 meters (11:38.15).

Nathan Anderson, a senior from Woodville-Tompkins, won a state title in the GHSA Class 1A D1 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.11,

Two Bethesda Academy Athletes captured gold medals in the South Carolina Independent Schools Association championship on May 5, 2023, at Orangeburg Prep Academy.

In the SCISA AA State Champion in the Discus Throw, junior Triston Randal took the gold with a throw of 124-07.

Then in the SCISA AA State Champion in the 200 Meter Run, freshman Raleigh Wesley finished first with a time of 23.18.
