Habersham School Patriots Sweep Fullington Academy

The Habersham School finished the season 16-5 overall and won the Georgia Association of Private & Parochial Schools (GAPPS) - I-A Region 3 title undefeated at 5-0. The Patriots swept the Fullington Academy Trojans in the first round of the GAPPS DI-A Varsity Baseball State Tournament, in-game one 5-2 and 14-1 in game two. The Patriots advance and will host Harvester Christian Academy on Friday, May 7, 2021. Here are the series game recaps.

Game 1

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity snatched the lead late in the game in a 5-2 victory over Fullington Academy Trojans Varsity on Friday. The game was tied at two, with The Habersham School Patriots Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Tyler Tift singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

 

Fullington Academy Trojans Varsity got things moving in the first inning when Carson Godfrey hit a solo homer.

 

Thomas Tift was the winning pitcher for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. Tift went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out two, and walking zero.

 

Blake Worley took the loss for Fullington Academy Trojans Varsity. The bulldog allowed seven hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six and walking zero.

 

Luke Rowland started the game for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. The right-hander lasted five innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four.

 

Tift went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead The Habersham School Patriots Varsity in hits.

 

Avery Scarboro led Fullington Academy Trojans Varsity with two hits in two at-bats.

 

Game 2

 

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity quickly did away with Fullington Academy Trojans Varsity 14-1 on Friday.

 

Thomas Tift was the winning pitcher for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out three. Jack Hogan threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

 

Carson Godfrey took the loss for Fullington Academy Trojans Varsity. The pitcher allowed two hits and six runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

 

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity launched one home run on the day. Reeder Chambers had a dinger in the fourth inning.

 

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity racked up nine hits on the day. CJ Barry and Henderson Hughes all had multiple hits for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. Hughes and Barry each collected two hits to lead The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. The Habersham School Patriots Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Ed Beck Yannett had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
