The HVJ Warriors defeated the NHHS Phoenix 14-1 on August 16, 2023, at New Hampstead High School. Gracin Bote pitched a five-inning complete game for the Warriors.

The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Bote struck out four batters with no walks, pitched a two-hitter, and did not allow an earned run. Bote, Akeelah Younger, Tashiyah David, Ma'Kaiyah Gray, Gabby Barnum, and Bailey Douberly each had two hits. Bote, Younger, Dubberly, Davis, and Justice Johnson had two runs batted in each.

"We had a solid performance on the mound and defensively today," said HVJ coach Seth Gaspin. "Gracin pitched a great game, we hit th ball well, and our defense made some key plays."

With the win, the Warriors improve to 2-3 on the season. They will play Bryan County today, August 17, at HV Jenkins High School.
