The Forest City Gun Club's Juniors program, the reigning five-time national champion, has entered the summer with a bang.

There were actually many, many highly accurate bangs as the Forest City Juniors captured the 2025 Scholastic Clay Target Program Georgia State Championship last weekend at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah.
After finishing in second place at the SCTP state competition the past two years, the Forest City Juniors won by 31 targets with a score of 1,079 – dropping only 21 targets across 11 rounds of 100.
Program director Lee Summerford called it "their most dominant performance in the 12-year history of the program" in announcing the results. The gun club's board in 2013 tasked Summerford and head coach Zac Guerrettaz with starting the juniors program, which began competing in the SCTP in 2014.
Last weekend, the standouts were Men's High Overall Award winner Mills Hollis, with a total score of 295 out of 300 in the three disciplines, and Ladies HOA winner Landyn Fries, with 281 out of 300.

The Forest City Juniors swept skeet, trap, and sporting clays at the Varsity level. The program's shooters were stellar through all divisions, from Rookies through Collegiate.
Summerford noted that the Collegiate competitors have been busy studying "and hardly have time to practice, but they always show up for tournament time."
He credited Guerrettaz and the nearly 30 volunteer coaches who work weekly with the juniors.
"As I always say, they are the backbone of our program and truly the secret to our success," Summerford wrote. "Our coaching motto is, 'We are training champions,' and not one of us has not seen the impact this program has on the lives of these young men and women. I know it has made Jake (Summerford) the young man he is today."
Lee Summerford's son, Jake, is one of the original eight Forest City Juniors program members and a highly decorated champion.
Lee Summerford also thanked Forest City Gun Club members and sponsors for their support.
