Maya Swenson, a junior libero at Islands High School, has been named the Donatos Pizza Volleyball Player of the Week for her outstanding performance from September 25 to September 30.
This week, Swenson accumulated 67 digs, averaging 8.4 digs per match. She also recorded 15 assists, averaging 1.9 assists per match, and 13 aces, averaging 1.6 aces per match. Swenson achieved these feats while competing against Hilton Head Christian, Effingham, South Effingham, Savannah Country Day, Hebron Christian, Mount Pisgah Christian, Greater Atlanta Christian, and White County.
Islands High School Head Coach Jessica Decker expressed why Swenson deserved this recognition: "Maya is our libero and controls the back line. Her communication and assertiveness on the court have shone this season. She has the uncanny ability to read the hitter, adjust to our block, and pick up any ball hit her way, including some that aren't."
Swenson's outstanding contributions on the volleyball court earned her the Donatos Pizza Volleyball Player of the Week title. Congratulations to Maya for her exceptional performance!
