Taylor Young – H.V. Jenkins High School
Taylor Young, a senior outside hitter at Jenkins, has been named a Coach’s Corner Volleyball Player of the Week.
In four matches last week, Young recorded 22 kills, 4 aces, and 1 assist. More than the stats, her leadership as team captain stood out.
“Taylor is a positive presence on our court,” said Jenkins head coach Drew McKenzie. “She is our team captain and regardless of her individual performance she devotes everything to the team on each point.”
Ella Brooking – Savannah Christian Preparatory School
Savannah Christian senior middle hitter Ella Brooking is also recognized as a Coach’s Corner Volleyball Player of the Week.
Brooking delivered a big week, leading the Raiders with 26 kills and 3 solo blocks. She posted an impressive .465 hitting percentage, including 8 kills against a strong St. Vincent’s squad.
Head coach Julie Jones praised Brooking’s impact on both sides of the net along with her teammates. “St. Vincent’s Academy, Bryan, Camden & HHHS this past week were absolutely a team effort made possible by all 10 girls on the court, Ella truly stood out as a game changer in the middle. She provided a strong offensive threat that opened up opportunities and created valuable one-on-one matchups for our pin hitters. Of course, an effective middle attack is only possible with solid passing from our DS/Libero group and setters who can deliver those tougher sets, and they rose to the challenge.”
