Lane comes up big at Tim O'Neal Perseverance Cup event at the Landings Club

Savannah's Morris Lane, a senior at St. Andrew's School, turned in two rounds of 1-over par 73 at the Deer Creek Course at the Landings Club to win a Savannah Junior Golf Association Tim O'Neal Perseverance Cup event presented by First Tee Savannah June 22-23. 

Lane trailed Savannah's Will Doyle, a Benedictine Military School junior, by two strokes after the first round but led by six strokes after the first nine of the second round. Doyle carded scores of 71-81 to finish runner up in the Boys 15-18 age group. 

In the Girls 15-18, Savannah's Maya Lilja-Vazquez played two solid rounds of 75-78 to finsih 9-over and win comfortably over Ella Kate Woods from Richmond Hill, Ga. The Savannah Arts Academy sophomore saved her best for last, posting a score of Even par 36 on her final nine holes of the second round. 

Savannah's Zach Dao won the Boys 11-14 age group with scores of 76-85, and Richmond Hill's Shayna Patel finished atop the Girls 11-14 age group.
