Richmond Hill's Mahaffey qualifies into AJGA event in Florida

Richmond Hill's Patrick Mahaffey, a senior at Richmond Hill High School, posted a score fo 3-under par 69 a the Legends of Orange Lake Resort in Kissimee, Fla., on July 27 to qualify for the American Junior Golf Association's Arnold Palmer Invitational Junior being played July 29-31 at Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla. 

Mahaffey finished third in the qualifer behind Nicolas Pisarski from Orlando and Ambrose Kinnare from St. Augustine, Fla. Earlier this year, Mahaffey qualified to compete at the Georgia Amateur Championship played in June and he recently earned an alternate spot for the Georgia Open by carding a score of 2-over 74 in a qualifier played July 21 at Savannah Quarters Country Club. 

Mahaffey will start the first round of the Arnold Palmer Junior Invitational at 8:43 am on July 29 playing with Charles McPherson of Durham, N.C., and Clark Mason of St. Petersburg, Fla. Go to Arnold Palmer Junior Invitational Leaderboard to follow his progress!
