Savannah's Bear Dollander, a junior at Benedictine Military School, was a member of victorious Team Georgia at the inaugural Kiltie Cup played July 27-28 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
In its inaugural year, the Kiltie Cup is an international team event pairing eight top junior golfers in Georgia against eight top junior golfers in Scotland. Competition included Mixed Four-Ball, Foursomes and Singles match play contested in the Nassau scoring system.
Dollander was joined on Team Georgia by 2025 Georgia Junior Amateur champion Grant Odom from Statesboro, Bodie Brumlow from Cartersville, Grace Lee from Suwanee, Kylie Chung from Cumming, Mackinley Yarborough from Carrollton, Molly Spector from Atlanta and Zoe Duval from from Cumming on Team Georgia.
Trailing 13-11 after the first day of team competition, Team Georgia dominated the singles matches on the second day and won the match play competition by a score of 27-21. Dollander earned two points for Team Georgia in his singles match victory over Finlay Hazelwood from Dundee, Scotland.
The Kiltie Cup is named for Stewart "Kiltie" Maiden, a Scotsman who was a golf professional at East Lake Club in the early years of the 20th century. Among the golf legends Maiden taught during his career are Bobby Jones, Alexa Stirling, Perry Adair, Watts Gunn and Charlie Yates, all members of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame.
