High School Volleyball season is still a go in our area, and a lot of former athletes have already earned a college scholarship.

This year, one of Savannah's best 18-under teams had nine players sign National Letters of Intent to attend colleges all over the United States. A former St. Vincent’s standout volleyball player, Emily Rochefort, Class of 2010, coached the team.

Rochefort was a standout volleyball player at Mercer University. After being an assistant coach at Mercer. Emily came back to Savannah to work at St. Andrew’s school in multiple roles, including he head volleyball coach and a coach at for the 18-under club team. Emily just moved to New Jersey after the season to become Rutgers University Director of Volleyball Operations. Rochefort felt this team was hardworking, committed and coachable this past season.

“This was a fantastic group to coach, as they were hardworking, committed, and coachable young women," said Rochefort. "They all loved being in the gym and getting better each day, but they were also great teammates to one another. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to train these girls.”

Rochefort also felt it was never unexciting coaching this team. Rochefort can’t wait to see how they do at the next level.

“We never had a dull practice because the girls consistently displayed high energy and genuinely wanted the best for each other," Rochefort said. "I am so proud of the team we became over the course of the season, and I am excited to see what each of them does at the next level!”
