Miller goes back to back at Georgia Junior Girls championship

Savannah Christian rising senior Mary Miller continues to dominate girls golf in Georgia, claiming the Georgia State Golf Assocation's Girls Junior Championship for the second year in a row.

At the Country Club of Columbus June 19-21, Miller started the 54-hole tournament with a 2-under par 70 and then created space between herself and the field with a 6-under par 66 in the tournament's second round. She then eased around the course in the final round, posting a score of Even par 72 to finish five strokes ahead of runner up Camryn Coffield from Hamilton, Ga.

Earlier in June, Miller, who has committed to play college golf at Georgia Southern University, won the GSGA Women's Match Play and the Georgia PGA Girls Junior Championship. In May she was the low medalist at the Georgia High School Association Class AAA state golf tournament and led Savannah Christian's team to the state championship for the second straight year.

Miller is the first girl to go back to back at the Georgia Girls Championship since Laruen Lightfritz in 2015-16, and she is the first player since She is also the first player since Mariah Stackhouse in 2007 and 2008 to win the Girls Championship and Georgia Women’s Match Play in same year.

Guyton's Madilyn Saxton finished T22 at the Georgia Girls Championship after rounds of 78-79-78, and Richmond Hill's Hayden Price finished T33 after rounds of 86-79-80.
