Pooler’ Elliott Oliver and Savannah’s Maya Lilja-Vazquez lead their age groups at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour’s SJGT King & Prince being played at the King & Prince Golf Club on St. Simon’s Island.
Oliver, a junior at Savannah Christian Preparatory School, managed an Even par 72 in windy conditions to tie for the lead with Hugh Michael Hollingsworth from Milton, Georgia. Last week, Oliver carded a score of 3-under par 69 on the Deer Creek course at the Landings Club to tie for medalist honors at the 1902 Cadet Cup hosted by Benedictine Military School.
BC sophomore Jack Weeks is T4 after first round score of 3-over par 75 that included six birdies. Richmond Hill’s Ledger Conley is also T4 while Savannah’s Hamp Threlkeld is T9 after a first round score of 4-over 76.
Vazquez carded a score of 8 over par 80 in heavy winds and is tied for the lead with Sadaly Campbell from Fernandina Beach, Florida. Lilja-Vazquez, a freshman at Savannah Arts Academy, earned two wins and a runner up finish on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour in 2024.
