Two local flag football teams were pitching for a spot in the Georgia High School Association Class 1A-4A Final Four to go to Atlanta on Thursday night.

Pace Academy (14-4-1) was beaten 19-6 by the defending 4A champions Calvary Day School(16-0)  at the Specialty Sports Complex on the campus of Calvary Day School. The Lady Cavs jumped out to 19-0, and Pace Academy scored late to make the final score 19-6. Hannah Cail, Abigail Walsh, and Mahkayla Premo reached the endzone, and Breanna Jones scored the lone extra point conversion. The Cavaliers will face Southeast Bulloch (17-0) in the Final Four after the Lady Yellow Jackets won  13-0 in their quarterfinal triumph over Columbus High School.

A tough loss for St. Vincent's (11-2), as Portal High School (8-1) jumped out to a 14-0 lead and held on to win 14-13. The Saints got behind and scored the last two scores in the second half only to come up short with one minute to go in the game. The Aliotta twin connection came up big as Hayden hit her sister Reagan for two scores and an extra point. The Saints went for the win on a two-point conversion, and it was a heartbreaker as the attempt was tipped three times before it fell to the turf as an incomplete pass. With this result, the final score was 14-13 Portal.

Regan Aliotta grabs one point conversion pass from Hayden Aliotta to put SVA back in the game 14-7 with 5 mnutes left in game.

On Thursday night, Pacelli (14-1),  defeated Long County (12-3), awaits the Lady Panthers in the semifinal. If Calvary and Portal win, it will be a rematch of last year's GHSA 1A-5A championship, which went to Calvary 6-0.

At the Home Depot Back Yard behind Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the GHSA Final Four (semifinals) games will occur on Monday, December 6th. On Thursday, December 9th, at the Center Parc Stadium, Atlanta, the GHSA State Flag Football Championship Finals will take place.  The schedule is as follows, 11:00 am - Division 1 (1A-4A), 12:45 pm - Division 2 (5A-6A), and
at 2:30 pm - Division 3 (7A).
