First Tee Savannah will open registration for Savannah Junior Golf Association events on February 8 at FirstTeeSavannah.org.
It's the first year that First Tee Savannah will schedule and operate the Savannah Junior Golf Association tournament series. On February 8, registration for the more competitive high level tournaments will open, but First Tee Savannah CEO John Parker said the organization is currenlty working on creating a development level tournament series as well.
“The end all be all is our kids can’t afford to play high level golf because it’s so expensive, so we wanted to get First Tee participants competitive play to build their college resumes,” Parker said. "Realistically, I would like to push it as a year round thing. In my thought process, we will end up having 10-12 Savannah Junior Golf Association tournaments per year."
Savannah Junior Golf Association events for 2024 will incude an 18-hole at Richmond Hill Golf Club on June 4, the 36-hole Savanah Junior City Amateur Championship at Bacon Park Golf Course June 24-25, the 36-hole Matt Warren Championship at the Savannah Golf Club July 15-16 and a newly created 54-hole trournament at Deer Creek Golf Club at the Landings July 21-22.
