Richmond Hill's Sahaj Patel, a sophmore at Savannah Country Day School, posted rounds of 79-74 to finsh 9 over par and win a Savannah Junior Golf Association presented by First Tee - Savannah two-day tournament played August 1-2 at the Oakdride course at the Landings Golf & Athletic Club.
Patel, who was tied with Savannah's Morris Lane after both posted 7-over par 79 in the first round, started the second round strong with a first nine of Even par 36. His only hiccup on the second nine was a double bogey on the 17th hole, but he still finished two strokes clear of runner up Lou Lively from Collins, Ga.
Savannah's Finn Nixon, a junior at Benedictine Military School, completed an incredible two-day turnaround by posting scores of 93-70 and finish T4 with Savannah's Patrick Mahoney and Cooper Mahoney, who are also juniors at Benedictine. During his second round, Nixon carded seven birdies and played his last 13 holes in 6-under par.
In the Boys 8-13 age group, Richmond Hill's Tripp West blazed through Oakridge in 2-under par after posted 71-71. His performance was good enough to finish 10 strokes ahead of runner Creighton Jue from Savannah.
in the Girls 14-18 age group, Savannah's Savannah Lane bested runner up Maya Lilja-Vazquez from Savannah. And in Girls 8-13, Emma Parker earned the win wtihi a steady two-round performance.
