Royal, Vazquez capture Savannah Junior City Am titles

Braylon Royal carded one of the best rounds in the history of the Savannah Junior City Amateur with a 4-under 67 on August 26 at Bacon Park Golf Course, and he hung on to win the Boys Open division for the second straight year.

Royal, a senior at Calvary Day School, carded a second-round score of 6-over 77 to finish the tournament 2-over par and 11 shots clear of Benedictine sophomore Graham Schubert, who finished runner up after scores of 80-75. In third place, Benedictine sophomore Heath Kulp posted scores of 79-79.

Savannah's Maya Vazquez was the only player entred in the Girls Open division, and she played like a champion. She carded scores of 83-80 while Statesboro's Madison Woodrum finished with rounds of 76-82 to win the Girls 10-14 division and Ainsley Sheffield won the Girls 15-18 division with scores of 95-82.

In Boys 15-18, Lou Lively from Collins, Ga., finished with rounds of 85-84 to claim the victory. In Boys 13-14, Richmond Hill's Kyle Price turned in a strong performance with rounds of 83-79 for a convincing victory, and in Boys 10-12, Bluffton's Henry Anderson won by three strokes over Richmond Hill's Sahaj Patel following rounds of 78-70 for a 6-over par total.
