Savannah Area High School Football Standings: Week 6 Preview
From Effingham vs. South Effingham to Calvary vs. Jenkins, region showdowns and playoff positioning highlight a packed Week 6 under the Friday night lights. Here’s a look:
GHSA
Class 6A
Richmond Hill Wildcats (4-0): Still unbeaten following a 41-9 win over Wayne County, the Wildcats now travel to Florida for a tough test against Buchholz.
Class 5A
Effingham County Rebels (2-2): After securing a 43-35 win over Bradwell, they will travel to face rival South Effingham.
South Effingham Mustangs (1-2): The Mustangs earned their first win, 20-14 over Lakeside-Evans, and now host Effingham County in a big rivalry game.
Bradwell Institute Tigers (1-2): They dropped a close one to Effingham last week and now look to rebound against Statesboro.
Class 4A
Benedictine Cadets (1-2): Have had three weeks off. Visits Westminster in a key region matchup.
New Hampstead Phoenix (1-4): Lost to Pierce County. Off this week.
Class 3A
Calvary Day Cavaliers (4-0, 3-0 region): After dominating Windsor Forest 49-0, they now face Jenkins in the week’s biggest showdown.
Jenkins Warriors (3-1, 3-0 region): They rolled past Beach 63-14 and now host Calvary Day in a pivotal region battle.
Beach Bulldogs (1-2, 1-2 region): Looking to regroup against Long County.
Islands Sharks (1-3): Coming off a win over Groves. Host Liberty County.
Johnson Atom Smashers (1-3): After falling to Southeast Bulloch, they face Groves this week.
Windsor Forest Knights (1-3, 0-3 region): The Knights lost to Calvary Day and next face Southeast Bulloch.
Groves Rebels (0-4): Still searching for their first win, the Rebels travel to Johnson.
Class 1A DI
Savannah Christian Raiders (3-2): Lost last week to Fellowship Christian 52-12, off this week.
Savannah Country Day Hornets (1-3): Back from a bye, host Tattnall County.
Class 1A DII
Bryan County Redskins (3-1, 2-0 region): Stay perfect in region play after beating Portal 42-35. Host unbeaten Emanuel County Institute in a huge region matchup.
GIAA
St. Andrew’s Lions (2-3): Pulled out a 24-22 win over Augusta Prep. Off this week with a bye.
SCISA
Bethesda Academy Blazers (3-0, 1-0): Stayed unbeaten with a 47-0 rout of Hilton Head Prep. Host Patrick Henry this week.
