Creekview High School edged South Effingham High School for the GHSA 5A Duals Team wrestling championship, headlining a packed Saturday of basketball and wrestling across the Savannah area.

Creekview 36, South Effingham 35
In the GHSA Class 5A Team Duals, defending state champion Creekview made a strong statement early, rolling past Habersham Central 69–11 and Villa Rica 66–12 to advance to the semifinals. South Effingham, the back-to-back state champions in 2023 and 2024, answered with dominant wins over Sequoyah (54–19) and Thomas County Central (68–10). (Scores via Score Atlanta)
The semifinal round delivered the expected heavyweights winning. South Effingham defeated Jackson County, while Creekview knocked off Dunwoody to set up a championship matchup between two of the state’s top Class 5A programs.
In the finals, Creekview edged South Effingham 36–35 and claimed back-to-back GHSA Class 5A state duals titles. The Mustangs raced out to a 35–6 lead, owning eight of the 14 weight classes, but the match turned late. Creekview stormed back and won the final five bouts by pin, flipping the score in the closing moments and securing a gut-wrenching state championship victory by one point.
