Savannah Area Teams Storm into Football Playoffs: Six to Sweet Sixteen, One to Final Four, One to Championship

Savannah, GA - The Savannah area is well-represented in the 2023 football playoffs, with eight teams advancing to the next round. Six moving on to the sweet sixteen, one to the state final four, and one to the state championship!

In the Georgia High School State Association (GHSA), Jenkins, Benedictine, New Hampstead, Calvary Day, Savannah Christian, and Bryan County all moved on to the sweet sixteen round. 

In the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA), Memorial Day advanced to the semi-finals, and Bethesda Academy will play for the South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA) state championship.

Jenkins upset No. 1 seed Arabia Mountain in the first round, while Benedictine cruised past Baldwin. New Hampstead defeated Westside-Macon, and Calvary Day blanked Jackson. Savannah Christian outlasted Peach County in a thrilling four-overtime game, and Bryan County dominated East Laurens.

In the GIAA, Memorial Day defeated Harvester Christian; in SCISA, Bethesda Academy defeated Northside Christian.
