The Savannah Arts Academy girl's cross-country team opened the season with a dominating first race at the Frazier- Hite in Statesboro, Georgia, on Sept 1, 20022. The Running Lady Panthers had an average team time of 21:48 for the 3k course. The runner-up team finished with a time of 26:56. Which was almost five minutes behind the Arts Academy. What is impressive is that the girl's team would have beaten over half the field of the men's race field as well.

The Lady Panthers placed seven out of the top ten finishers for the meet. Senior Margaret Wade finished 1st overall out of roughly 100 runners with a personal best of 19:15. Teammate senior Lyric Olson placed second with a time of 21:02, and in fourth place was senior Ava Coffey at 22:06. Another senior, Camille Arango (23:20) finished in the top 10 at seventh. Two underclassmen sophomores, Elle-Howard-Grant, was sixth (23:19) and Ava Thomas at ninth with a time of 23:59.

Last season the Savannah Arts Academy girl's finished second at the Georgia High School Association Class AAA state championships in November of 2021. The Lady Panthers are ranked number two in the Georgia Mile Split GHSA Class AA rankings to start the season. Westminster SchoolHere is the exact breakdown of the Savannah Arts Academy outlook for the 2022 season.

"Savannah Arts Academy has never won a team cross-country title. This is their year to finally get the big one. They are the favorites for the 2A crown this fall unless another team makes a huge jump. They have front runners with Wade and Olson who could possibly go 1-2 and then another runner in Coffey who is good enough for top 10. They've also got depth and are very strong at 4-7 as well. They will be incredibly hard to beat. Last year they almost snuck up on Westminster to steal the team title in 3A. There will be no sneaking this year as they'll have a big target on their backs." - ga.milesplit.com website.
