Savannah's sports fans love rankings; seven local teams have given the them plenty to cheer about after four weeks.

Three boys teams – Groves, Savannah High, and Woodville Tompkins – have cracked the Sandysspiels.com Georgia High School Association polls, while Bryan County's girls are also making noise in Class A D-I.

The rankings on Sandysspiels.com website, the leading source for GHSA Basketball coverage, are determined by the website administrators' objective and subjective thoughts and views.

The Maxpreps.com website has ranked three boys' teams from Savannah in the top 10 of their respective classifications. These teams are Memorial Day School, St. Andrew's School from the Georgia Independent Athletic Association, and The Habersham School from the Georgia Association of Private & Parochial Schools.

Maxpreps.com rankings are based solely on schedule strength and scores, with team ratings being another important factor.

From the Sandysspiel.com website, Groves' (3-3) record is good enough for No. 9 in Class AAA, while Savannah High (4-2) sits at No. 4 in Class A D-I. Woodville-Tompkins, meanwhile, boasts a perfect 7-0 mark and finds itself at No. 7 in the same classification.

Not to be outdone, Bryan County's girls are off to a 2-0 start and have earned the No. 9 ranking in Class A D-I.

Found on the MaxPreps.com website, St. Andrew's School, the defending state champions, currently have a 2-3 record, placing them at No. 4 in the GIAA Class AAA rankings. Memorial Day, who has a 1-2 record in GIAA Class A D-I, are the defending GIAA Class A champions and are ranked No. 5. The Habersham School, with a 3-2 record, is ranked No. 8 in all classifications according to the GAPSS rankings.

It's still early, but these seven teams are making their mark on the state hardwood scene. Can they keep it up? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: Savannah's basketball fans will love the basketball bouncing on their court this season.
