On April 26 at Crosswinds Golf Club in Pooler, Reed Lotter shot a 6-under 66 to win the GHSA Class A individual area title. One of the top junior golfers in the country, Lotter needed a playoff hole birdie – his ninth of the round – to best second-place finisher Parker Houck of Prince Avenue Christian.
Lotter, a senior for Savannah Country Day heading to Auburn next year to play for the Tigers, is ranked No. 46 in the Rolex American Junior Golf Association rankings. He has nine top-20 finishes in 14 events played, including a win at the Sams Burns Classic in July of 2021.
The Hornets boy’s team finished second with a score of 294, good enough to advance to the state championship along with Prince Avenue Christian (277) and George Walton Academy (316).
The state championships begin on May 16 and conclude on May 17. The Dogwood Country Club (Austell, Ga.) will host the Class A-Private championships as the site designated by hosting member, The Walker School.
