Savannah Country Day's Whitfield wins Lowcountry Invitational

Savannah Country Day junior William Whitfield carded scores of 73-70 to finish 1-under par and win medalist honors at the prestigious Lowcountry Invitational played at Berkeley Hall Golf Club in Bluffton, S.C., and the Club at Savananh Harbor February 27-28.

Whitfield rallied from four strokes off the lead with a 2-under par 70 in the second round at Savannah Harbor that included a sizzling 3-under par 33 on the final nine holes. He finished tied for medalist with Porter Gaud's Rowan Sullivan and won in a scorecard playoff. 

Both Savannah Country Day and Benedictine were invited to participate in the seventh edition of the Lowcountry Invitational, which included powerhouses such as AC Flora High School from Columbia, the Porter Gaud School from Charleston, Beaufort High, Hilton Head Preparatory School and Hilton Head Christian Academy. In the team competition, Benedictine finished fourth in the 12-team field.
