Savannah Country Day senior runner John Ryan finished first out of 242 runners accordingg to MileSplitGA website for his second gold medal of the season with a time of 17:20. Which was 26 seconds better than his previous finish on  September 1, 2022.

The Hornet's boys and girls cross-country teams competed in the small school division (classes 1A - 4A) at the Carrollton Invitational (state meet preview) in Carrolton, Georgia, on September 10, 2022. The race took place on the same course that will host the Georgia High School State Association state championship meets in November.

One of the sports' objectives is getting quicker week by week, month by month, and year by year. Besides Ryan winning the race, seven runners who participated in the  Carrollton Invitational race accomplished that.

Four seniors improved tremendously. John Ryan placed third at the same race last year. Anna Pollak's time was 2 minutes, 24 seconds quicker than the same race last year, Gracie Daters cut 16 seconds off her previous best time for the season, and Lane Hammond cut 49 seconds off his previous best time for the season. Junior Devin Beauchamp set a personal record by cutting his PR by 1 minute and 50 seconds. Two freshmen showed a significant improvement. Charlie Pope cut his last 5k time by one minute and seven seconds, and  AC Donegan decreased her PR by 1 minute, 19 seconds.
