Savannah's Kohki Maeda, a sophomore at Savannah Country Day School, carded rounds of 70-67-71 at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans, Ga., to finish T6 at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Vaughn Taylor Championship.
The AJGA is considered the pinnacle of junior golf, attracting international fields of the best junior players in the world to compete. Maeda finished 10 strokes behind winner Tommy Evans from Charlestown, West Virginia, and the top 10 included players from Florida, California and China.
Savannah's Bear Dollander, a junior at Benedictine Military School, posted scors of 70-68-74 to finish 1-under par and T14, and Savannah's Jack Weeks, also a junior at Benedictine, finished 7-over par and T34 after scores of 73-73-74.
In the Girls division, Richmond Hill's Alexa Mohler, a sophomore at Richmond Hill High School, qualified for the event and ended with scores of 73-77-72 in a tie for 20th at 9-over par.
