Over the weekend, two talented prep athletes from Savannah, Georgia, made big news on social media by verbally committing to play college sports.
Zo Smalls, a senior running back from Savannah Christian Preparatory School, committed to play football at Charleston Southern University. Standing at 5-foot-9 and weighing 195 pounds, pound for pound, one of the best football players in the area and has had an outstanding career. He rushed for 1,903 yards and scored 34 touchdowns, leading his team to the Class 3A state championship game in his junior season. In his sophomore year, Zo had 1,408 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns. Besides football, Zo also plays lacrosse at Savannah Christian.
Another impressive commitment came from Calvary Day School's senior Abby Walsh, who will play soccer at Kennesaw State University after graduation. Abby is a standout two-sport athlete for the Cavaliers. She was an All-Region 3-3A first-team selection for the third straight season in soccer after scoring 33 goals and making 14 assists last season. She also reached a milestone by scoring her 100th career goal. Walsh has netted 102 goals from 315 shots through 44 games in her career. In addition, Abby is part of the Cavaliers' flag football team.
