Saxton and Conley second at Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event

Guyton's Madilyn Saxton posted scores of 74-77 to finish solo second for Girls 12-19 at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's Harris English Invitational played at Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, Ga., Augst 19-20, and Richmond Hill's Ledger Conley finished strong to capture a second place finish in the Boys 14-15 age group.

Saxton was tied for the lead after one round and in contention for a victory until a triple bogey on the tournament's last hole. Conley followed a first round of 2-over 74 with a closing round of even par 72 to climb into the runner up spot behind Clarke Browne from Birmingham, Alabama.

Savannah's Bear Dollander, a freshman at Benedictine Military School, carded rounds of 71-77, leading afte the first round and through 27 holes before falling to third in Boys 14-15. BC sophomore Hamp Threlkeld posted steady rounds of 74-77 to claim a T4 finish.

In Boys 16-19, Savannah's Whit Watson, a BC senior, had solid scores of 74-75 that were good enough for a T8 finish. And Savannah's William Whitfield, a Savannah Country Day School senior, wasn't far behind at T10 following rounds of 75-75.
