Guyton's Madilyn Saxton overcame a quadruple bogey on her 14th hole to post a score of 8-over par 80 and win a Central Florida Series event on the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour played at Mayfair Country Club in Sanford, Fla., on March 28.
Saxton was in complete control of the tournament after carding a score of 2-over par 38 on the first nine holes. But a quadruple bogey on the par-5 14th hole brought her back to the field.
Saxton and runner-up Bretton Mackiewicz were tied through 16 holes before Mackiewicz carded a triple bogey on the 17th hole. Saxton played her last four holes only 1-over par to claim the victory.
Saxton, 14, is the 2020 Savannah Junior City Amateur girls' division champion and has two other wins in the Prep Divsion on the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour. In November, Saxton also finished third at the PKBGT Regional Tournament of Champions played at Palmetto Dunes Resort on Hilton Head Island.
The PKBGT is an initiative of the non-profit Girls Golf of America with a mission to provide cost-conscious access to golf with a specific focus on girl's golf development in partnership with LPGA-USGA Girls Golf.
