Patel wins Boys 12-13 at Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event

Richmond Hill's Sahaj Patel, an 8th grader at Savannah Country Day School, posted scores of 76-80 to win the Boys 12-13 age group at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's St. Simon's Island Junior at Sea Palms played January 18-19 at Sea Palms Golf Club.

Patel held a four-stroke lead afte the first round but was pursued by Ethan Tillery from Eatonton, Georgia. Patel carried a lead into the final hole and survived a triple bogey to preserve the victory.

Patel earned three runner up finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour in 2024, but this was his first win on the tour. With the win, he earns a spot in the Tournament of Champions that will be played December 6-7 in Opelika, Alabama.

In the boys 16-18 age group Richmond Hill's Patrick Mahaffey bounced back from a first round score of 10-over par 81 with a 1-under par 70 to jump up the leaderboard to tied for 10th.
