Richmond Hill's Ledger Conley, a senior at Richmond Hill High School, posted a score of 4-under par 67 the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., to earn spot in the 77th United States Junior Amateur Championship and tied for low medalist at the Georgia State Golf Association's qualifier.
The US Junior Amateur Championship, the most prestigious junior amateur golf tournament in the country, will be played July 21-26 at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. Conley will be among the 264 elite junior golfers from around the world who play two rounds of stroke play trying to qualify for the 64-player match play competition.
During high school golf season, Conley won the Georgia High School Assocation Class AAAAAA boys state championship by 14 strokes. In Athens at the US Junior Amateur qualifier, he tied Patrick Delaney from Marietta, Georgia, carding four birdies and no bogeys during his round.
