Nixon wins Boys 14-15, Brooks runner up in Boys 16-18 at Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event

Savannah's Finn NIxon, a freshman at Benedictine Military School, held on to win the Boys 14-15 age group at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's Savannah Junior Open played January 18-19 at the Club at Savannah Harbor.

Despite cold temperatures and windy conditions, Nixon carded scores of 78-84 on the 6,850 yard sst up to win the age group by 15 strokes over Peter Pettit from Atlanta, Ga.

In the Boys 16-18 age group, Savannah's Quentin Brooks made a charge in the second round but fell short to Gavin Richardson of Concord, New Hampshire. Brooks carded scores of 74-73 to finish 3-over par for the tournament and five strokes behind Richardson, who turned in the tournament's only under-par score with a 2-under 70 in the second round.
