Savannah's Nixon leads Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event at Savannah Harbor

Savannah's Finn Nixon, a freshman at Benedictine Military School, carded a 6-over par 78 in the first round of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's Savannah Junior Open being played the Club at Savannah Harbor and leads the Boys 14-15 age group by 13 strokes.

Nixon bounced back from three straight bogeys to play his final six holes Even-par and take a commanding 13-stroke lead over Cooper Cantrell from Clarkesville, Ga., in to the second round. The Boys 14-15 age group plays the same tees as the Boys 16-18 age group, and Nixon's score places him sixth overall for Boys 14-18 at the tournament.

In the Boys 16-18 group, Savannah's Quentin Brooks posted a score of 2-over 74 and is in second place only two strokes behind leader Gavin Richardson from Concord, New Hampshire. At the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's Hilton Head Junior Classic played in November, Brooks carded scores of 75-73 to finsih solo second by only one stroke.
