Brooke Stansel played for the Lady Blue Devils for the past four years. The Lady Blue Devils won the region championship in 2018 and were runners-up in 2019. Brooke knew her team would do well this season too, but unfortunately, the season was short.

Brooke started playing soccer at four for the Bulloch County Recreation Department, where her dad was her first coach. In high school Brooke realized she wanted to play club soccer and the closest club team was over an hour away, Savannah United. Brooke determined to improve and trained privately several days a week along with club practices 2-3 times a week. Brooke says that improving her game would not have been possible without the love and support of her parents, brothers and grandparents.

Brooke is an outside midfielder, and she also played center midfield for her high school team. Some of her proudest moments include getting the Most Improved award, winning the region championship, and scoring at the President’s Day Disney Showcase.

Savannah United Coach Ciara Thomas says, “Brooke has been an absolute joy to coach! I am most proud of Brooke’s willingness to work hard and her determination to be the best player she could be.” Coach Ciara said that Brooke has a kind heart and a soft-spoken demeanor off of the field but that she became a tenacious player when she stepped on the field. Brooke says that Coach Ciara has been her most influential coach. She also said that Coach Ciara “was always positive, enthusiastic, and patient, but she was also not afraid to yell.”

Brooke feels that she will be a successful student athlete in college because of all the guidance and encouragement she has received from her coaches throughout the years.  Brooke will attend Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee on a soccer scholarship where she plans to major in Exercise Science and ultimately go to school to become a Physician Assistant.
