Jaylen Wells, a recent graduate at AE Beach High School, was a three-sport athlete for the Bulldogs in football, basketball, and track.  Jaylen finished third in the 2020 Ashley Dearing Award voting as one of the most versatile prep male athletes in Savannah.

Jaylan for the Bulldogs was the leader and had an enormous season. He finished the 2019 football season with 1,300 yards passing, 750 rushing yards while combining for 33 touchdowns and receiving all region honors. Wells tied the school record for most touchdown passes in a game six, versus Savannah High in 52-22 victory.  Longtime AE Beach football Head Coach Ulysses Hawthorne said, “Jaylen is hardworking, dedicated, and never missed a practice. He took care of his grades and is an outstanding student. All I can say he is one of the best players I have coached, and an exceptional kid. He was a genuine leader for us.”

To finish out his prep football career, Wells had an outstanding game for the Coastal Empire senior all-star football team at this year’s 2020 WSAV Blitz Bowl. Jaylen was 16 of 26 passing for 180 yards with the three touchdown passes  as the Georgia team defeated the South Carolina team, 38-17. Jaylen will enroll at Savannah State this fall on a football scholarship.
