Over three weeks after champions were crowned in the Georgia High School Association football playoffs, awards are still being handed out.  Last week, the Parker Resources website announced their coach of the year awards to Georgia high school football head coaches and assistant coaches respectfully. Parker Resources is a website that promotes the professional development of football coaches and athletic directors.

Seven Savannah area prep football coaches grabbed Coach of the Year honors. Two of the seven, Danny Britt, Benedictine Military School, and Mark Stroud, Calvary Day School, were named head coaches of the year.
Britt won the state championship in GHSA Class 4A, and Stroud made another run for a state title in Class 1A Private.

The other five coaches of the year awards went to assistant coaches. From GHSA Class 6A, Effingham County high school assistants, linebackers coach Tommy Gilstrap, and offensive line coach Austin Osment. In GHSA 4A from Benedictine, offensive coordinator AJ DeFilippis and offensive line coach Trevor Coleman. Calvary Day School in GHSA Class 1A Private, it’s offensive coordinator Wayne Brantley.  To all winners, an award that is well deserved.
