In a first for Saint Vincent's Academy, flag football player Rose Williams signed a letter of intent on Tuesday morning to continue her athletic and flag football career at Life University in Atlanta. Williams signed in front of family, classmates, and coaches as she made her commitment official.

According to SVA flag football head coach Mike St. Louis, in an article posted on the Prep Sports Report in November of 2023, Williams was a threat to score from any position on the field and the only Saint to play offense and defense. Furthermore, St. Louis stated in the article, "Rose is our team's Swiss Army knife. Not only is she a huge threat on offense as a running back/receiver, but she is also a great quarterback. She is also the only player to play offense and defense, never really getting an opportunity to rest in our extremely fast-paced game."

When Rose won the Grassi/Prep Sports Report Flag Football Player of the Week award, it was clear how good she was. Williams led her team to wins in two games the week of November 13-18, throwing one touchdown pass, catching another, and having seven receptions for 87 yards. She also played defense.

Trivia Question: Who was the first  ever Grassi/Prep Sports Report Flag Football Player of the Week? SVA's Rose Williams.

Coach St. Louis introduced Williams to flag football in her sophomore year and said, "It has been a joy coaching Rose for the last 3 years. She was a part of our inaugural team, making varsity as a sophomore and has consistently been one of our best players. She is dedicated and extremely talented." St. Louis added, "In my opinion she is the best all around flag football player in Savannah. There are very few girls that can play every single position at an extremely high level like she can. Life University is very lucky to have such a wonderful player and person joining their program."

As the sport of flag football grows, travel teams have also surfaced. In Savannah, the flag football club South Elite has made big strides in getting local girls more involved in the sport. So, Rose Williams is not only the first SVA flag football player to commit but also the first South Elite player.
