The Grassi Roofing/Preps Sports Report girl's soccer Player of the Week for April 3 to 8, 2023, is Alana Beddow of St. Vincent's Academy.

Player: Alana Beddow/senior/Goalkeeper

School: St. Vincent's Academy

Sport: Girl's Soccer

Week:  April 3 - April 8, 2023

Highlights: In the past two games, Alana has had 42 saves against region rivals Calvary (26) and Savannah Country Day (16). Beddow was vital in penalty shootouts versus Calvary and Savannah Country Day, with crucial saves in the two penalty shootout wins for the Saints to capture the GHSA Class AAA Region 3 regular season title. Assuring SVA is a number 1 seed in the state tournament.

Coaches Comments: "Alana is a BEAST in the goal. She is vocally commanding and takes charge of our back line with her cousin, Haley. I don't worry when we go into penalty kicks when Alana is in the goal, as I know she is good for a save or two. She's got the heart to back the talent. Alana loves her team dearly and will do what it takes to keep us in the game. She is coming off a shoulder injury that we thought was going to keep her out this season, but she did everything she could to rehabilitate it to be back with her team. She will be greatly missed next season as she is not only the best goalkeeper in this area but she strives to help make our younger goalkeepers stronger and works with our goalkeeper coach, Javier Flores, in practices to help them improve," said St.Vincent's Academy Katie Knight.
