St. Vincent's Academy was blessed to celebrate the signing day of senior Alana Beddow to Georgia Southwestern University on Monday, January 9th. Her family, friends, coaches, and teammates joined her in the SVA courtyard to cheer her on.

"Alana is an amazing multi-sport athlete that has made a difference on every team she played for at SVA. From Volleyball, to Basketball, to flag football, and of course to soccer, Alana is the athlete that sets a goal or decides she is going to do something, and she does it 100%. She works hard and lets absolutely nothing stand in the way of her attaining her goals. We are so proud of everything you have accomplished at SVA, congratulations," stated Athletic Director Nichols St. Louis.

Career: Alana has lettered in Volleyball for two years. She was awarded 2nd Team All-Region in both years. Alana has also lettered in Basketball for two years, and this year lettered in Flag Football. She is a versatile athlete, but her greatest strength and love is as a soccer goalkeeper. Alana has lettered and been the starting goalkeeper for the Saints Soccer team for three years. In her sophomore year, Alana was awarded the SVA Golden Glove award and was a First Team All-Region and First Team Savannah Now selection. Last season, Alana was named to the Greater Savannah Preseason Top 12 Soccer team and First Team All-Region 1A Private Team. She was nominated for Coastal Empire Female Soccer Player of the Year. She has been selected to play in the Coastal Empire All-Star Tournament for two years straight. Alana is also a member of the Georgia Olympic Development team. In the past two high school soccer seasons, Alana has boasted a total of 215 saves. That doesn't include the saves she has made on her club and ODP teams.

Coaches Comment:  "This is a well-deserved celebration as I have personally witnessed for two and a half years now the dedication and effort this young lady has put into her dreams of playing soccer in college. She has managed to play multiple sports, competitive club soccer, volunteer, and private goalkeeping sessions, and maintain first and excellence honors throughout her time at SVA. She is a fantastic teammate and leader on our team. Georgia Southwestern State and Coach Edwards, you are getting a GREAT one!" Soccer Coach head coach Katie Knight
