Threlkeld, Saxton finish top 5 at Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event

Savannah's Hamp Threlkeld, a junior at Benedictine Military School, carded scores of 70-71 to finish 3-under par and T2 in the Boys 16-19 age group at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's Harris English Invitational played August 17-18 at Glen Arven Counntry Club in Thomasville, Ga.

In the Girls 15-19 age group, Guyton's Madi Saxon posted scores of 71-79 to finish T4 and earn her eighth top 10 finish in eight events on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour. Saxton is currently second in points on the SJGT tour with two victories.

Threlkeld led the field after posting a score of 2-under 70 in the first round but couldn't catch Hudson Mitchell from Pensacola, Fla., who end with a 6-under par 66 in the second round to win the tournament by two strokes. Threlkeld now has three top 10 finishes in four events in SJGT events in the Boys 16-19 age group in 2024.
