Benedictine and Southeast Bulloch have clinched region titles. Two regions could come down to a complicated tiebreaker. There is one week to go in the 2020 regular season before playoffs begin for local prep football teams. Two regions are set in the Georgia High School Association football playoffs, and two regions still to be decided with week 12 play to occur starting Thursday night.

In Region 2-6A, some implications will be worked out this week. Richmond Hill, Glynn Academy, and Brunswick are locked with one loss each. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head. This is where it gets complicated. Richmond Hill beat Brunswick, Brunswick beat Glynn, and Glynn beat Richmond Hill. Richmond Hill has a bye, Glynn plays Statesboro in Statesboro, and Brunswick plays Effingham County at home. If all three teams win this week, these teams will go to the next tiebreaker, which is point differential, which gets complicated with this tiebreaker rule. The point differential is based on the three teams playing each other.

In Region, 3-4A Benedictine is locked in as the #1 seed because the Savannah Chatham County public schools decided to play each other only. Islands is the #2 seed and will host its first-ever home playoff game in the football program's history because they defeated New Hampstead and Jenkins. New Hampstead will get the #3 seed because they defeated Jenkins in last week's matchup, 44-20, which puts Jenkins as the #4 seed.

In Region 3-3A, Southeast Bulloch and Liberty County played each other on October 16th. Southeast Bulloch defeated Liberty County 21-7 to secure the #1 seed. Liberty County gets the #2 seed because the Savannah Chatham County public schools decided to play each other and not play any teams outside the Chatam County area. Windsor Forest secured the #3 seed going 4 -0 versus other SCCPSS schools, and Johnson beat Beach last week to claim the #4 seed with a 3-1 record against other 3-3A SCCPSS opponents.

Last week Region 3-A had the bye week. This sets up a big final week of region play. Savannah Christian is in the driver seat right now and is in first place with a 2-0 record. Calvary and Savannah Country Day follow the Raiders, both with 1-1 records, and Aquinas in fourth place at 0-2. There are two scenarios. This week's schedule is key because all four teams play each other.

The first scenario is if Savannah Christian Academy and Calvary win. Savannah Christian will be the number one seed, Calvary the number two seed; Savannah Country Day will finish third and Aquinas fourth. The second scenario would be if Savannah Country Day beats Savannah Christian and Calvary beats Aquinas. Savannah Christian, Calvary, and Savannah Country Day will all be tied for first place. As of right now, the tiebreaker is the same as region 2-6A. The seating for the region championship and playoff seeding will be based on a point differential, which is very complicated to explain. Looking at the points for and points against are not as easy as determining your seeding for the region. Plus, the point differential won't be figured out until Friday night's games are completed.

Memorial Day School took its 2020 schedule as a trooper. The Matadors, technically a single A classification school, had to travel to compete against schools in the AAA classification, who were twice as big. Memorial Day School held there own and will move down to the Georgia Independent Schools Association Class A playoffs and play in the first round. As usual, being the #3 seed, the Road Warriors from Memorial Day will travel and take on #2 seed Thomas Jefferson Academy on November 27th. St. Andrew's, who moved up to GISA Class AAA, did not qualify for the playoffs.
