Who Won? Who Lost? Week 9 Tips Off with Statement Wins

Who won in Week 9 of the high school basketball season? Local boys’ and girls’ teams opened the week with strong region performances Tuesday night. With the post-holiday portion of the season underway, many Savannah-area teams were back in region play as the standings continue to take shape.


Girls – Statement Wins by Region

GHSA 6A – Region 1

Camden County earned a region win over Richmond Hill, 43–34, as both teams continue to work toward their position in the standings.

GHSA 5A – Region 1

Bradwell Institute remained unbeaten with a 38–34 win over Glynn Academy.
Statesboro earned a close region win, defeating South Effingham, 46–45, in a big opening region matchup.

GHSA 3A – Region 3

Jenkins stayed at the top of the region with a win over the Islands.
Beach and Liberty County both recorded wins to remain close in the standings.

GHSA Class A Division I – Region 3

Savannah Country Day opened region play with a 59–24 win over Savannah Christian to remain at number two in the region.
Vidalia earned a region win, defeating St. Vincent’s, 61–35, to maintain the top spot.

GHSA Class A Division II – Region 3

Bryan County continued its region play with a 63–20 win over Jenkins County to remain undefeated in region play.


Boys – Statement Wins by Region

GHSA 6A – Region 1

Richmond Hill earned a region win, defeating Camden County, 66–60.

GHSA 5A – Region 1

Bradwell Institute recorded an 84–59 region win over Glynn Academy.

GHSA 4A – Region 1

Both local teams lost as Ware County earned an 81–41 win over New Hampstead.
Perry earned a region win with a 65–52 victory against Benedictine.

GHSA 3A – Region 3

Calvary kept itself in the region race, defeating Beach 58-47. Long County earned a 77–55 win over Groves to keep the top spot in the region.

GHSA Class A Division I – Region 3

Savannah Christian earned a statement 61–52 region win over Savannah Country Day to remain in first.

GHSA Class A Division II – Region 3

Savannah earned a 60–56 win over McIntosh County Academy.
