    In 2010 the Savannah-Chatham County School System decided a new high school was needed in the west Chatham County community. Construction of the new school started in early 2012 in hopes to be open by the start of the 2012-2013 school year. On August 27, 2012, New Hampstead opened.

    New Hampstead offers Cheerleading, Softball, Volleyball, Cross country and Football in the Fall; Boys' basketball, Girls' basketball, Wrestling and Swimming in the Winter; and Track, Baseball, Boys' soccer, Girls' soccer, Tennis and Golf in the Spring.
