Barber wins Doral-Publix Junior Golf Classic

Savannah 8th grader Kate Barber birdied her 36th hole on the Red Tiger course at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami, Fla., to win the Girls 12-13 age group at the prestigious Doral-Publix Junior Golf Classic played Deceber 21-22.

Barber's birdie enabled her to edge out runner up Amelia Phung from Forest Heights, N.Y., by one stroke. Barber, who bested a field that inlcuded some of the best junior players from the United States and the world, carded scores of 74-73 to finish 3-over par for the 36-hole tournament.

Since 1981, the Doral Publix Junior Golf Classic has hosted thousands of competitive junior golfers from across the globe in the city of Doral. The experience consists of competitive rounds of championship play, banquet dinners celebrating our players and trophy ceremonies after the championship's final rounds.
