Savannah's Dao wins 12-13 age group at Southern Showcase event at Sea Palms

Savannah's Zach Dao, an 8th grader at St. James Catholic School, won the 12-13 age group at the The Southern Showcase at Sea Palms played at Sea Palms Resort & Conference Center on St. Simon's Island, Ga., June 30 and July 1. 

Dao posted scores of 69-76 to finish 3-over par for 36 holes and edge out runner up Aiden Wilkinson from Baxley, Ga. by one stroke. 

In the Boys 14-18 age group, Savannah's Chad Chadwell, a senior at Benedictine Military School, posted scores of 72-70 to finish Even par and in third place on the coursed where he won a Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event earlier in June. Zach Dao's older brother, Alex Dao, a sophomore at Benedictine, recorded a T5 finish with scores of 76-74 to finish 8-over par, and Savannah's Finn Nixon, also a sophomore at Benedictine, finished 13-over par in ninth place after scores of 78-77.

Additionally, players finishing in the top three in each age group automatically qualify for a berth in a regional qualifier for the Notah Begay Junior Golf National Championship.
