Two tournaments. Two wins wins and two low medalists for the Benedictine Military School golf team.
Led by junior Bear Dollander's 4-under par 67 at Laurel Island Golf Links in Kingsland, Ga., the Cadets narrowly edged Lowndes High School in the Camden Classic played February 14. In addition to Dollander, seniors Hamp Threlkeld and Chad Chadwell carded scores of 2-over 74 and sophomore Alex Dao posted a score of 1-over 73 for a total of Even par 288.
Dao's 15-foot birdie on his final hole tied Lowndes, and the scoring moved to the fifth score for the tiebreaker. BC junior Will Doyle posted 3-over par 75, which was six strokes better than Lowndes sophomore Camden Yeager's 81.
Dollander, who has committed to play college golf at the University of Alabama, earned low medalist honors by three strokes over runners up Asher Dean from Ware Country High School and Parker Gay from Lowndes. Threlkeld, Chadwell and Dao all finished in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, and Doyle and BC senior Heath Kulp on the BC B team finished T15.
Richmond Hill High School senior Ledger Conley, the defending Georgia High School Association Class AAAAAA champion who has committed to play college golf at Jacksonville University, finished T9 after a round of 2-over 74.
Earlier in the week, BC won the 1902 Cup played at the Savannah Golf Club, where Chadwell tied for medalist honors with a score of 2-under 69. The Cadets' next event is the Johnny Paulk Classic being played February 21 at Jekyll Island Golf Club on Jekyll Island, Ga.
