The Benedictine golf team started 2026 in style on February 9 as the host Cadets won the 1902 Cup played at the Savannah Golf Club by 15 strokes over North Oconee High School.
BC was led by senior Chad Chadwell, who was the tournament's co-medalist following a round of 2-under par 69 in chilly, windy conditions. Chadwell tied with Hilton Head Christian Academy senior Sage Bradshaw for low medalist.
In addition to Chadwell, the other scores for BC came from junior Bear Dollander with a 3-over par 74, senior Hamp Threlkeld with a 4-over par 75, sophomore Alex Dao with a 7-over 78, junior Will Doyle with a 7-over 78 and freshman Carson Hayes with a 7-over 78. The team total was 12-over par 296, which was 15 shots better than runner up North Oconee.
In the individual tournament, Richmond Hill High School senior Ledger Conley finished third after a 2-over par 73, Savannah Country Day School junior Charles Morris with ninth following a score of 5-over par 76 and Richmond Hill High School senior Patrick Mahaffey was T10 after a score of 6-over par 77.
The next event for the BC team is the 2026 Camden Classic being played February 14 at Laurel Island Golf Links in Kingsland, Ga.
