Bethesda Academy Stays Undefeated & St. Andrew's Wins Big Rivalry Game

Bethesda Academy (6-0/1-0) streaked out to a 41-0 halftime lead last week in a 48-0 shutout victory over Palmetto Christian, their third shutout in a row.

 

Noah Jenkins rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns, Thomas Peters had 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Triston Randall was 7-of-10 for 213 passing yards with three touchdown passes and was 6 for 6 on point after touchdown kicks.

 

On defense, Kamerion Lanigan had four tackles and a sack, Riley Alecock had five tackles and a fumble recovery, and Thomas Peters, Charles Green, and Ralo Wesley had interceptions.

St. Andrew's 41, Memorial Day 12

 

St. Andrew's jumped out to a 13-0 score after the first quarter. Memorial Day, who came into the game short-handed, scored twice to cut the deficit to 13-12, but Lions (4-1) scored 21 unanswered points to lead 34-12 at halftime and never looked back to a 41-12 victory over the Matadors (3-2).

 

Zayden Edwards threw four touchdown passes, and Amari Cook scored three touchdowns to lead St. Andrew's. Edwards completed 12 of 20 passes for 203 yards and four touchdowns, while Cook rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 38 yards and two touchdowns.

 

The Lions also had a solid running game, rushing for 222 yards led by Edwards 9 carries for 72 yards. Richaard Williams added a rushing touchdown for the Lions.

 

On the receiving end, besides Cook's two touchdown catches, Williams and Kari Harrison had the other two touchdown tosses from Edwards.

 

Memorial Day was without senior quarterback Tyler Kindle (injury) and several other starters. Assir Best ran for 100 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns for the Matadors. Charles Chappell, one of the leading receivers for the Matadors, started at quarterback.

 

The Lions won their fourth game in the last five meetings between the two rival GIAA Savannah schools.
