Lorenzo Cowan, an H.V. Jenkins High School graduate (Class of 2024), is returning to where we thought his college football journey would begin—at the University of Kentucky.

Cowan initially committed to Kentucky after graduating from high school before signing up with the University of Southern California (USC). After redshirting his freshman year with the Trojans, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound edge rusher has decided to transfer and rejoin the Wildcats. He brings four years of eligibility with him.
During this year's spring practice at USC, Cowan received praise from head coach Lincoln Riley. Riley commented on Cowan's impressive progress during spring camp, highlighting him as a player who has shown significant improvements. Riley also expressed pride in his growth, as stated on the On3 social media site.
Cowan was a 3-star prospect. He was ranked among the top 60 edge rushers in the country by 247 Sports and had offers from schools like Duke, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and South Florida.
Now, Cowan joins a Kentucky team adding depth on defense — and he'll also be reuniting with his older brother, Tavion Gadson, a 2023 HV Jenkins graduate and defensive lineman for the Wildcats. Tavion redshirted in 2023 and played in two games during the 2024 season after returning from a knee injury.
