Chadwell tied for first at Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event in Statesboro

Savannah's Chad Chadwell, a junior at Benedictine Military School, posted a round of even-par 72 at Forest Heights Country Club and is tied for the lead in the Boys 16-19 age group at the Forest Heights Junior Classic being played July 16-17.

Chadwell, who missed nearly a year of competitive golf with a serious back injury, is tied with Mason Pate from Valdosta, Ga., atop the leaderboard. Chadwell was 3-over par after three holes but then played the next 15 holes 3-under par to climb the leaderboard.

Pooler's Caden Hartely, a junior at Savannah Country Day School, is T5 with a first round score of 2-over par 74, and Richmond Hill's Ledger Conley is T11 but only three strokes off the lead following a 3-over par 75.

In the Girls 15-19 age group, Guyton's Madi Saxton finished with a score of 2-over 74 and leads Richmond Hill's Hayden Price by two strokes entering the final round. And in Boys 12-13, Savannah's Carson is T2 but only two strokes behind the lead following a round of 6-over par 78.
