Duo Turns Two! Benedictine's Ludwig & Calvary's Johnson Earn Player of the Week Honors

John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report acknowledges the top high school baseball player (s) of the week every week during the 2024 baseball season. The PSR, sponsored by John Carr Seaport Real Estate, recognizes a standout pitcher and player for that week of play. Junior Landon Ludwig from Benedictine and sophomore Quinn Johnson from Calvary Day School stood out with their performances at the plate and on the mound to win the honor as the John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Players of the Week.

Week 5

Player of the WEEK - Pitcher

Player: Quinn Johnson, Sophmore, P 

School: Calvary Day School

Sport: Baseball

Week: March 11, 2024 - March 16, 2024

 

 

Highlight: On March 14, 2024, versus Liberty County High School in 8-0 Calvary win, Sophomore Quinn Johnson pitched a complete-game no-hitter for the Cavaliers. Johnson struck out 12 Panthers and missed pitching a perfect game by allowing one walk and Calvary making one error in the field. On the season, Johnson has a record of 2-1 with an earned run average of 0.86. In 16 1/3 innings pitched, Quinn has struck out 24 batters.

 

Coach's Comments: "Quinn has had a great off season which has led to his success on the field." - Calvary Day School Head Coach Phillip Lee.

 

 

Player of the WEEK - Player

Player: Landon Ludwig, junior RHP/DH/RF

School: Benedictine Military School

Sport: Baseball

Week: March 11, 2024 - March 16, 2024

 

Highlight:  During the 5th week of the season, which began region play for the Cadets against Islands High School (a 3-game series), Landon had an outstanding performances at the plate, going 6 for 10 and scored seven times from the leadoff hitters position. He had four singles, a triple, a homerun, and three runs batted in (rbi). In game two, Ludwig hit a two-run home run late to cut the Sharks lead in half, the only game BC lost during the series. On the mound, Landon got the win in game one against the Sharks. He pitched 4 innings, allowed only 2 hits and 1 run, and struck out 5 batters.

 

Coach's Comments:  "Landon Ludwig is a tremendous talent on the mound and at the plate. He has been the most consistent Cadet so far this year. He also has the respect and admiration of his coaches and teammates." – Benedictine Military Head Coach Jason Pascual.
